June 26 2021 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Santa Cruz Seaweed 12-3 after taking control with four runs in the first inning and seven more in the fifth. Monterey finished with nine hits, while Santa Cruz had five. The Amberjacks also scored once in the fourth inning, and the Seaweed answered with one run in the first and two in the fourth.
Ethan Lopez led Monterey with a home run and four RBI. Kyle Montebon went 3-for-3, while Issac DAgostino collected two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. DAnthony Rice added a triple and two RBI, and Jared Fry had a double. Santa Cruz was led by Edgar Arriolas 2-for-3 performance with a double, while Brennan Wilson recorded a hit and two RBI.
Andrew Polk earned the win for Monterey after allowing five hits and three earned runs in six innings. He walked five and struck out four, throwing 120 pitches with 67 strikes. Ryan Moeller took the loss for Santa Cruz after surrendering four runs in one inning, and Jacob Trujillo allowed seven runs on seven hits over three innings.
Monterey finished the game with two errors, while Santa Cruz played error-free baseball. The Amberjacks also recorded two stolen bases, including one each by AJ Pollack and Evan Bacani.
