Santa Cruz Seaweed Rally Past Wasco Reserve 7-5

July 15 2021 The Santa Cruz Seaweed defeated Wasco Reserve 7-5 after overcoming an early deficit at Wasco Recreation Ballpark. Wasco scored three runs in the first inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth, but Santa Cruz answered with three runs in the fifth, three in the eighth and one in the ninth. Santa Cruz finished with 12 hits while Wasco collected nine.

Dillon Plew led the Seaweed offense with three hits, two runs and two RBI. Joe Riddle added three hits and an RBI, while Grant Goff had two hits and an RBI. Tyler Chilton contributed two RBI, and Ron Jackson recorded two hits and a run. Cameron Stimpson hit Wasco’s lone home run and drove in two runs, while Daunte Freeman delivered three RBI for Reserve.

Riddle earned the win after allowing eight hits and five runs in seven innings, with only two runs charged as earned. He struck out 15 and walked two. Goff worked the final two innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out three to record the save.

Ryan Osborne started for Wasco and gave up three runs on six hits in six innings, striking out six and walking six. Chris Reyes took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings, and Mario Ramsey surrendered one unearned run in 1.1 innings.
