Seaweed Rally Past Sturgeon 8-4

July 29 2021 The Santa Cruz Seaweed rallied past the Martinez Sturgeon 8-4 after scoring seven runs over the final four innings. Santa Cruz finished with six hits and two errors while Martinez collected four hits and committed three errors.

Martinez took a 4-3 lead through five innings after scoring twice in the third and adding single runs in the fourth and fifth. Santa Cruz answered with two runs in the seventh to move in front and added three more in the eighth to secure the win. Matt Mascio drove in two runs for the Seaweed while Joe Riddle and Grant Goff also contributed two RBI each.

Robbie Carling led Santa Cruz with two hits and three runs scored. Tyler Chilton added two hits and scored once while Mascio had a hit and two RBI. Martinez received home runs from Bryce Packard and Riley Cleary. Packard finished with one hit and two RBI and Cleary added one RBI.

Noa Ortero earned the win after allowing no hits and no runs in two innings with three walks and one strikeout. Grant Goff recorded the save with three scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Eddie Heard took the loss for Martinez after allowing five runs on two hits in two innings.
