July 30 2021 The San Rafael Pacifics rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Santa Cruz Seaweed 6-5 at Albert Park. San Rafael trailed 5-3 entering the final inning before completing the comeback. The Pacifics collected five hits and committed one error, while Santa Cruz finished with nine hits and two errors.
Santa Cruz scored once in the second inning and added another run in the sixth before breaking through for three runs in the eighth. Joe Riddle led the Seaweed with three hits and three RBIs, while Robbie Carling had two hits and scored twice. Tyler Chilton added two hits, one RBI and a home run.
San Rafael scored all three of its runs in the fifth and ninth innings. Dalys Binder went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Michael Theisen had a hit and an RBI. Jeff Disla scored twice and added a hit, while Corey Davis scored once and drew a walk.
Sam Wells worked seven innings for the Pacifics, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five. Alex MacKinnon pitched a scoreless eighth before Taylor Lewis earned the win with a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit and striking out two. Santa Cruz starter Gabe Katich struck out eight and allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings, but Matt Mascio took the loss after surrendering three runs in two-thirds of an inning.
